A new storm is brewing in the Gulf with its eye on the Texas Gulf Coast!

Please remember to get flood insurance for your home.  FEMA has a requirement that all flood policies will not go into effect for 30 days after the date of the application, so do not wait.

It is also recommended to avoid the temptation to obtain policies which pay only actual cash value.  Ask your agents to sell you replacement cost policies, commonly referred to as RCV policies.

Another great idea is to obtain policies that do not have wind exclusions. Some insurers sell policies that provide coverage for water intrusion (not flood) whether or not the building envelope is compromised by the force of the wind by the creation of a hole through which water may enter.
