Biography

Joshua Selvidge was born and raised on the northwest side of Houston, Texas. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Army as an infantryman and paratrooper. During his years of service, Joshua had the great privilege of attending various military leadership schools and working with highly trained combat units in the fight against terror. Shortly after returning from a combat tour in Afghanistan, Joshua was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant.

From there, he quickly set out to utilize his military education benefits and attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst in pursuit of a B.A. in Journalism. During his final semester, Joshua enrolled in a class entitled Journalism and the Law. Fascinated by the study of the law, he chose to pursue a career in the legal field and obtained his Juris Doctorate from the University of Houston Law Center. Joshua is admitted to practice in the State of Texas.

Joshua’s practice primarily focuses on first party and third-party insurance claims, including the defense of insurance companies, homeowners, and construction contractors. Joshua worked his way through seven years of undergraduate and law school as a carpenter constructing and remodeling residential and commercial projects. The knowledge gained from this experience has suited him well in defending subcontractors in complex construction defect cases. While most attorneys have only experienced the construction field from a legal perspective, Joshua has gained firsthand experience by actually pouring foundations, framing houses, installing drywall, laying tile, and so much more.

Joshua is a proud husband and father and thoroughly enjoys spending quality time with his family. He is also a strong Christian and spends much of his time sharing the Gospel through different avenues of ministry at the Shady Acres Baptist Church, where he is a member.
